In this blog post, we are going to look at why we think YouTube Shorts is brilliant!

What is YouTube Shorts ?

YouTube Shorts is an app, which enables individuals to upload videos, which last for less than a minute. 

This app is considered to be a competitor to Tik-Tok, an app, which also allows people to share short videos. 

We are now going to analyse 3 reasons why we think YouTube Shorts is a clever idea. 

  1. It enables content creators to produce short clips. More and more content creators are realizing that concise content is the best. There is therefore a growing need for platforms such as YouTube, to enable individuals to produce such content. As a result, many more people, even businesses are uploading short videos, through this app, since it is much easier and more convenient to do so.

  2. It therefore provides content consumers with concise content. 

    There is no doubt that times are changing. Generation Z make up the biggest demographic of content consumers and the fact remains that they mostly enjoy watching short videos and clips. We at Mic Up believe that the shorter and more engaging your content is, the likelier people will consume and enjoy your content more! A study by Microsoft concluded that the human attention span has dropped to eight seconds – shrinking nearly 25% in just a few years! Content creators need to be aware of this statistic, so that they can get the best out of the content that they make.

  3. You can easily watch these videos, because they are short. Due to these videos being short, you can easily view these videos as pop-ups, even if you are watching something else. This is convenient for the consumer and provides them with a steady stream of engaging content that doesn't last long. If someone gets bored with a video, they can simply click the Shorts icon and watch shorter videos!

In conclusion, we believe that YouTube Shorts is a clever way to encourage content creators to create crisp shorter videos, which can therefore appeal to wider variety of people.
